Enable the use of OpenRefine
Context
OpenRefine is a powerful tool to work on datasets and is currently the main tool used to clean and import data on Wikidata. Recent changes to OpenRefine seem to make it possible to be used on custom Wikibase instances. In the context of EurHisFirm, enabling the use of OpenRefine to import data from source databases (DFIH, SCOB) to our Wikibase instance could be a significant improvement, from custom Python scripts which are complicated and not flexible, and would be at least a great complement.
Needs
- A reconciliation service (so that users can "reconcile" their data from OpenRefine, before the import)
- A Wikibase manifest (so that OpenRefine can read how the instance is configured)
Tasks
-
Deploy a reconciliation interface for OpenRefine (using openrefine-wikibase), done here: The reconciliation service is up and running: http://data.eurhisfirm.eu:8000/ -
Configure the reconciliation service to point to our custom instance at data.eurhisfirm.eu (as documented here) -
Write a Wikibase manifest for our custom instance at data.eurhisfirm.eu (following this tutorial) -
Verify that everything is working (by importing data to data.eurhisfirm.eu using OpenRefine)
